Qatar Airways (QR) officially unveiled a FIFA World Cup 2026™-themed special livery on one of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on May 25, 2026. The Doha-based carrier applied the bold, dynamic design to aircraft registered A7-BEH, in its capacity as the Official Global Airline Partner of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, a role it has held since May 2017. This aircraft is set to travel across the airline’s routes in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
The aircraft’s transformation goes beyond aesthetics. According to Qatar Airways’ official press release, the Boeing 777 also features a bespoke interior cabin dressing designed exclusively for this occasion, bringing the tournament atmosphere directly into the inflight experience. Crucially, Qatar Airways has confirmed that both the exterior livery and the cabin dressing will remain on the aircraft after the tournament concludes — a deliberate decision to commemorate the event in perpetuity.

Qatar Airways’ Boeing 777-300ER: The Aircraft Behind the Livery
The aircraft selected for the special livery is a Boeing 777-300ER registered A7-BEH, which first flew in February 2016 before joining the Qatar Airways fleet later that year. According to fleet data made available by Planespotters.net, the Boeing 777-300ER A7-BEH delivered to Qatar Airways in March 2016 is powered by two General Electric engines and currently features a 42 Business Class and 312 Economy Class seat configuration.
The aircraft was ferried from Paine Field in Everett, Washington (PAE) to Doha (DOH) on March 22–23, 2016, during its delivery flight. Initially configured in a “C42Y316” layout, the jet retained that arrangement until June 2020 before being reconfigured to “C42Y312” in July 2020. Between October 2022 and April 2023, the aircraft carried a “FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022” sticker as part of the airline’s tournament branding campaign. The Boeing 777 was later sent for repainting at Shannon Airport (SNN) on May 4, 2026, where it received special “FIFA Official Airline of the Journey” colors in May 2026.
Notably, this is not A7-BEH’s first foray into World Cup livery territory. The airline previously used the same aircraft to promote the 2022 FIFA World Cup, when it carried tournament branding between late 2022 and early 2023. (Greek City Times) The selection of the same airframe for both campaigns underscores the continuity Qatar Airways seeks to project in its FIFA partnership.
The Boeing 777-300ER’s specifications make it a natural candidate for long-haul promotional duties. On the A7-BEH configuration, key cabin features include:
- Business Class: 42 seats in a 2–2–2 layout, converting to a 78-inch fully flat bed, with a 12-inch HD touchscreen IFE and universal 110V AC power
- Economy Class: 312 seats in a 3–4–3 layout with 32-inch pitch, 10.6-inch HD touchscreen IFE, and a 4-way adjustable headrest
- Engines: Two General Electric GE90-115B turbofans

A Livery Designed to Embody Football’s Global Spirit
Qatar Airways developed the livery to reflect the spirit of the FIFA World Cup 2026, the largest edition of the tournament in history. Unlike a one-off static display or a small decal, this aircraft will continue to fly across the network and features a full-body livery that is noticeable and stands out at Doha and in markets globally.
The interior follows the same thematic logic. Beyond the exterior, the aircraft features bespoke cabin dressing themed around the FIFA World Cup 2026, with the custom interior styling designed exclusively for this aircraft to bring the tournament atmosphere into the inflight experience. Qatar Airways confirmed that both the exterior livery and the interior dressing will remain on the jet after the tournament concludes, serving as a long-term tribute to the event.
The Qatar–FIFA Partnership: A Relationship Extending To 2030
The unveiling of this livery is a visible manifestation of one of aviation’s most significant sports sponsorships. Qatar Airways, a top-tier FIFA partner since 2017, announced the renewal of its partnership as FIFA’s Global Airline Partner on the one-year anniversary of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, with Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer joining FIFA President Gianni Infantino for the signing ceremony at Hamad International Airport.
The extended partnership covers significant FIFA tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup 26™, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™, and the FIFA World Cup 2030™, as well as all youth men’s and women’s tournaments. Qatar Airways stands among the esteemed group of six global FIFA partners, sharing the spotlight with industry leaders such as Adidas, Coca-Cola, Hyundai, Wanda, and Visa.
On the occasion of the 2023 partnership renewal, Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer stated:
“We are excited to extend our partnership with FIFA as the Global Airline Partner. As an airline, we are committed to connecting the world, and this partnership allows us to reach millions of football fans. Football has the power to unite people across cultures and continents, and we are proud to continue to be part of this incredible journey.”
