LOT Polish Airlines (LO) will launch a nonstop Warsaw-Hanoi route on March 31, 2027, using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner three times a week. The Star Alliance carrier will fly LO 61 out of Warsaw every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 15:05, landing in the Vietnamese capital the next day at 06:35 local time.
The return service, LO 62, departs Hanoi every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 08:25 and lands back in Warsaw at 14:40 local time. Hanoi becomes LOT’s fifth destination in the Far East, joining Bangkok, Delhi, Seoul and Tokyo on the carrier’s growing Asian network out of its Warsaw hub.
Warsaw-Hanoi Nonstop Launches March 31, 2027, Three Times a Week
LOT’s schedule for the new route breaks down as follows:
- LO 61: Warsaw departure 15:05, Hanoi arrival 06:35 the next day, flying Monday, Wednesday and Friday
- LO 62: Hanoi departure 08:25, Warsaw arrival 14:40, flying Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
- Aircraft: Boeing 787 Dreamliner on both legs
- Route type: year-round, nonstop, three weekly frequencies at launch
Flight time works out to roughly 10 hours and 25 minutes outbound and about 11 hours and 20 minutes on the return, a gap driven by seasonal jet stream patterns over Asia. LOT has also said a fourth weekly frequency will join the route once the winter timetable begins in October 2027.
LOT operates every one of its long-haul routes with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The same aircraft type already flies LOT’s other Asian long-haul routes to Bangkok, Delhi, Seoul and Tokyo.
Hanoi Becomes LOT’s Fifth Long-Haul Destination in Asia
LOT’s press release frames Hanoi as the fifth stop on its Far East network, following Bangkok, Delhi, Seoul and Tokyo. The Bangkok route itself only launched on October 7, 2026, meaning LOT has opened two new Southeast and East Asian gateways within the same year.
Robert Ludera, Chief Commercial Officer at LOT Polish Airlines, tied the expansion to demand from both leisure and business travelers:
“Vietnam is one of the most dynamically developing countries in Asia,” he said. “As a travel destination, the country fascinates visitors with extraordinary cultural sites and natural treasures, a high degree of authenticity, amazing cuisine and a wide variety of landscapes, ranging from the bustling Hanoi capital region to the renowned Halong Bay.”
This is a Route LOT Flew Before
The March 2027 launch is not LOT’s first attempt at connecting Warsaw with Hanoi. The airline previously operated the route and suspended it in March 2012, based on aviation data tracked by CAPA – Centre for Aviation.
LOT’s flights will land at Noi Bai International Airport (HAN), the primary gateway to northern Vietnam and the country’s second-busiest airport after Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat. Vietnam’s aviation sector carried a record 83.5 million passengers in 2025, up 10.7% year on year. Noi Bai is also midway through a terminal expansion meant to lift its international capacity from 10 million to 15 million passengers a year.
Vietnam Airlines and Turkish Airlines are currently the only carriers flying their own aircraft nonstop between Europe and Hanoi, connecting the city with hubs in Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt and Istanbul. LOT’s entry makes it the third airline, and the first from Poland, to operate a nonstop link between Europe and Hanoi. Other European carriers, including Air France, only sell seats on the route through codeshare agreements with Vietnam Airlines.
Hanoi Route Follows a Broader Asia and US Expansion
The Hanoi launch sits inside a wider pattern of LOT route additions through 2026 and 2027. The carrier launched a four-times-weekly Warsaw-San Francisco Dreamliner service in May 2026, making California its sixth scheduled destination in the United States.
LOT’s route to Hanoi follows a broader deepening of Poland-Vietnam economic ties. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached nearly $4 billion in 2025, with Poland standing as Vietnam’s largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe.
Poland has also emerged as one of Vietnam’s fastest-growing inbound tourism source markets, alongside Russia, India and the Philippines, according to travel industry data reported in mid-2026. A tourist visa waiver introduced for Polish citizens has added further momentum to that growth, making a nonstop flight option more commercially attractive for LOT than it would have been a decade ago.
