Etihad Airways (EY) has launched its first-ever route to Uzbekistan, with a sold-out inaugural flight landing in Tashkent on 9 August 2026. Meyer added that the daily service opens a new gateway between Central Asia and the world, letting travelers connect seamlessly through Abu Dhabi to destinations across Etihad’s expanding global network. The airline said the route is designed to meet growing demand for travel between Uzbekistan, the UAE and key international markets, supporting stronger tourism flows and business connectivity in both directions.

Daily Schedule Connects Abu Dhabi and Tashkent via A320

Etihad is operating the route with a two-class Airbus A320 on a daily schedule. From 9 August through 1 September, flight EY830 departs Abu Dhabi at 20:35 and lands in Tashkent at 02:05 the next day, while the return flight EY831 leaves Tashkent at 03:25 and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 06:55.

From 1 September, the schedule shifts slightly. EY830 will depart Abu Dhabi at 21:20 and arrive in Tashkent at 01:50 the following day, and EY831 will leave Tashkent at 03:35 to reach Abu Dhabi at 06:25. Both flights operate daily using the A320 in both schedule periods.

Codeshare With Uzbekistan Airways Extends Reach to Eight Cities

According to Travel And Tour World’s coverage of the partnership, the Tashkent launch builds on a codeshare agreement Etihad signed with Uzbekistan Airways (HY) on 15 May 2026. The agreement lets Etihad passengers book onward connections from Tashkent to eight additional Uzbek cities on a single ticket.

The codeshare covers the following domestic destinations in Uzbekistan:

Passengers can also connect to selected international destinations on Uzbekistan Airways’ own network through the same booking. Etihad said the partnership reflects its broader strategy of integrating regional carriers into its route map to extend reach without adding aircraft of its own.

Etihad’s Wider Push into Central Asia in 2026

Tashkent is one stop in a larger pattern of Etihad growth across Central Asia and the surrounding region this year. The airline launched flights to Almaty in Kazakhstan, Baku in Azerbaijan, Tbilisi in Georgia and Yerevan in Armenia around mid-March 2026, part of what industry analysis has described as a Gulf “super-corridor” linking North America, Europe and Central Asia. According to flight-search data from Skyscanner, Dubai has had non-stop service to Tashkent for years, with flydubai, Emirates and Uzbekistan Airways all operating direct flights on the route. flydubai alone runs roughly 14 non-stop flights a week between Dubai and Tashkent, giving travelers daily options well before Etihad’s launch.

That existing competition puts Etihad in a catch-up position on frequency, even as it becomes the first carrier to offer travelers a route through Abu Dhabi specifically.

What the New Route Means for Travelers

For Uzbek travelers, the new service offers a same-day connection through Abu Dhabi to major cities across the GCC, Europe, the Levant and North America, markets that previously required routing through Dubai, Istanbul or other regional hubs.
