On the evening of October 1, 2025, two regional jets operated by Delta Air Lines (DL) collided while taxiing at New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA). The incident occurred around 9:56 p.m. local time. Both aircraft involved in the accident were operated by Endeavor Air (9E), a regional carrier wholly owned by Delta.
The collision between Endeavor Flight 5155 and Endeavor Flight 5047 resulted in minor injuries to a flight attendant. No passengers were reportedly hurt. The news comes only a few days after Airbus A321 operated by American Airlines abruptly aborted its takeoff after an AeroLogic Boeing 777 crossed its runway.

Delta, which is the third-busiest airline in the US, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey have initiated investigations to determine the cause of the collision and to assess any potential impact on airport operations.

Overview of the collision between Endeavor Flight 5155 and Endeavor Flight 5047
According to preliminary reports, the right wing of Endeavor Flight 5155 made contact with the nose of Endeavor Flight 5047 while both aircraft were taxiing on the same taxiway. The collision caused damage to the windscreen and cockpit displays of Flight 5155. A flight attendant aboard Flight 5155 sustained a minor injury and was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

According to The Week, “Endeavor Flight 5155 was carrying 32 people, 28 passengers and four crew members, while Flight 5047 was carrying 61 people, 57 passengers and 4 crew members“. The incident led to no fatalities nor did not disrupt overall airport operations. Delta Air Lines, which said that the impact was a “low-speed collision” issued a statement expressing its commitment to safety and cooperation with authorities:
“Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi. Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience.”

News producer at CBS, Joey Annunziato, said that the collision between the two aircraft sounded “like a sardine can opening”:
“It was a pretty violent collision. At the time, we didn’t really know like kind of what we hit..like something was being sheared off and, lo and behold, we looked at the right side of the plane, and the wing looked like it was almost like off the plane….(he didn’t know) if we hit them or they hit us..They hit the brakes like as hard as [Mike] Tyson’s right hook. It was like they slammed the brakes, everybody kind of lurched forward, and then there was impact.”

Delta’s Previous Ground Collisions
In September 2024, a Delta Airbus A350 collided with an Endeavor Air CRJ-900 at Atlanta International Airport (ATL). According to the FAA, which was quoted on Fox News, the collision took place “while Delta Air Lines Flight 295 was taxiing for departure at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, its wingtip struck the tail of Endeavor Air Flight 5526“.
The Delta Airbus A350 involved in this incident was headed to Tokyo, while the Endeavor Bombardier CRJ900 was headed to Lafayette, Louisiana.
Additionally, in March 2025, a Delta Airbus A319, Flight 2983 headed for Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) experienced a near-miss with U.S. Air Force T-38 Talon jets near Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

A flight attendant had injured her knee in the collision, reported the pilot of flight 5515. The Port Authority of New York also said that one person was taken to the hospital.
Eric Weiss, a spokesman was quoted in the CNN s having said:
“The NTSB dispatched a team of 10 to LaGuardia,..Flight recorders from both airplanes have been recovered and are now at NTSB headquarters in Washington for readout and analysis.”

Conclusion
Currently, NTSB is looking into the matter and trying to figure out what the causes behind the collision was. NTSB did confirm damage to the following:
- right wing on flight 5155
