Delta Air Lines (DL) has revealed its next-generation Delta One business class suite for its upcoming Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, introducing a new premium cabin strategy that will debut in 2027. The product is based on the Thompson Aero Seating VantageNOVA platform and marks a major step in the airline’s long-haul cabin modernization program.
Delta confirmed it will operate 20 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, which will become the largest widebody type in its fleet upon entry into service. The airline plans to configure these aircraft with approximately 50 business class suites, meaning nearly half of the aircraft’s total seating will be dedicated to premium cabins.

Delta’s A350-1000 Business Class Design
Delta has selected the Thompson Aero Seating VantageNOVA product for its new Delta One cabin, continuing its partnership with the manufacturer. The cabin will be arranged in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout, ensuring direct aisle access for every passenger and alternating seat orientation between window and center positions.
The VantageNOVA seat was first introduced in 2024 with an undisclosed launch customer before Delta was later confirmed as its first airline operator. This builds on Delta’s existing use of Thompson Aero’s Vantage XL seats on its Airbus A350-900 fleet, reinforcing continuity in its premium cabin strategy.
According to Mauricio Parise, vice president of Brand Experience the carrier expects that every time a customer boards its flight, “the experience and surroundings should feel familiar”
creating a sense of home and comfort when you’re away….That was the driving factor behind every intentional design feature and investment we made in developing our brand new A350-1000 experience, which we extended through nose-to-tail upgrades of our A330-200/300s and will continue to roll out across our fleet..

Each suite will feature a 24-inch 4K OLED inflight entertainment screen, which will be the largest installed by any U.S. airline. The seat also includes:
- Bluetooth audio connectivity
- USB-A ports
- AC power outlets
- Wireless charging capability
The fully flatbed will measure approximately 80 inches in length, making it about three inches longer than Delta’s current Delta One suite. A pillow-top mattress pad has also been added to enhance sleeping comfort over traditional memory foam designs.

Storage and Cabin Features in Delta’s New Suite
The new suite design includes multiple storage elements such as a dedicated shoe compartment, a phone storage tray beneath the armrest, and an open storage shelf. However, the seat does not include fully enclosed storage compartments.
Thompson Aero has designed the VantageNOVA platform for cabin efficiency, allowing installation within a pitch as tight as 40 inches, which helps airlines optimize cabin density without significantly compromising passenger space.
The Airbus A350-1000 cabin will also feature a self-service snack station located near the second set of doors. This area will provide premium passengers with light refreshments and beverages throughout the flight.
Parise said that the snack station gives customers “control over their time – small choices like when to grab a snack can feel meaningful,”:
We are deliberate about making it easy for customers to get what they need when they need it and offering a flight experience that best meets the needs of each customer. Whether you’re working, traveling with kids or simply awake when others are sleeping — it’s there for you.

Delta’s A350-1000s Are Competing with Two of the Big Three
Delta’s new suite enters a competitive U.S. premium cabin market where American Airlines (AA) and United Airlines (UA) [both of which, along with Delta have the biggest fleet] are also upgrading their long-haul business class products. Both competitors have selected the Adient Aerospace Elevate Ascent seat for their next-generation cabins.
Unlike its rivals, Delta has chosen the VantageNOVA platform, although all three products share similar design philosophies, including herringbone or reverse herringbone configurations focused on privacy and direct aisle access.
United Airlines currently leads U.S. carriers in premium seat count on select widebody aircraft, offering up to 64 business class seats on its reconfigured Boeing 787-9 fleet. Delta’s A350-1000, with around 50 suites, will still represent one of the largest premium-heavy configurations in its network.

Delta’s Fleet Rollout Strategy
The first Airbus A350-1000 equipped with the new Delta One suite is scheduled to enter commercial service in 2027. However, Delta is not expected to retrofit its existing Airbus A330, Boeing 767, or A350-900 fleets with the VantageNOVA product due to compatibility and cost considerations.
Industry discussions around a potential “business class plus” version of the seat have also emerged, but Delta has not confirmed any plans to adopt a tiered premium cabin structure at this stage.
The carrier expects 90% of its Delta One seats will be suites with sliding privacy doors by 2030.
