Public Debate Intensifies Over Airport Safety Protocols and Structural Safeguards

When New Straits Times visited the airport to report about the mishap, they talked to a security personnel stationed nearby, who “learned of the incident through a colleague”:

“He told me it was quite scary….I wasn’t there during the incident. But this is the first time I’ve heard about someone falling to death in KLIA……But people still need go about their business. It is truly shocking.”

On social media platform X, users debated the conduct of the auxiliary police officer who attempted to assist the Chinese woman, with some arguing that approaching her directly was inappropriate and that airport management must have a clearer protocol for handling such situations. Others stressed that physical safeguards, such as netting or protective cloth on lower floors, should be installed to prevent future tragedies.
