A7-BEH: Qatar Airways Boeing 777 Receives FIFA World Cup 2026 Special Colors

Qatar Airways (QR) officially unveiled a FIFA World Cup 2026™-themed special livery on one of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on May 25, 2026. The Doha-based carrier applied the bold, dynamic design to aircraft registered A7-BEH, in its capacity as the Official Global Airline Partner of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, a role it has held since May 2017. This aircraft is set to travel across the airline’s routes in Europe, the United States, and Asia.

The aircraft’s transformation goes beyond aesthetics. According to Qatar Airways’ official press release, the Boeing 777 also features a bespoke interior cabin dressing designed exclusively for this occasion, bringing the tournament atmosphere directly into the inflight experience. Crucially, Qatar Airways has confirmed that both the exterior livery and the cabin dressing will remain on the aircraft after the tournament concludes — a deliberate decision to commemorate the event in perpetuity.

Qatar Airways’ Boeing 777-300ER: The Aircraft Behind the Livery

The aircraft selected for the special livery is a Boeing 777-300ER registered A7-BEH, which first flew in February 2016 before joining the Qatar Airways fleet later that year. (Greek City Times) Powered by two General Electric GE90-115B engines, the aircraft is configured with 42 business-class seats and 312 economy-class seats. (Greek City Times)

Delivered to Qatar Airways in March 2016, Boeing 777-300ER A7-BEH is powered by two General Electric engines and was originally configured with 42 Business Class seats and 316 Economy Class seats. The aircraft was ferried from Paine Field in Everett, Washington (PAE) to Doha (DOH) on March 22–23, 2016, as part of its delivery flight. Until June 2020, the jet operated in a “C42Y316” layout before being reconfigured in July 2020 to accommodate 42 Business Class and 312 Economy Class seats.

According to fleet data made available by Planespotters.net, the Boeing 777-300ER A7-BEH delivered to Qatar Airways in March 2016 is powered by two General Electric engines and currently features a 42 Business Class and 312 Economy Class seat configuration.

The aircraft was ferried from Paine Field in Everett, Washington (PAE) to Doha (DOH) on March 22–23, 2016, during its delivery flight. Initially configured in a “C42Y316” layout, the jet retained that arrangement until June 2020 before being reconfigured to “C42Y312” in July 2020. Between October 2022 and April 2023, the aircraft carried a “FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022” sticker as part of the airline’s tournament branding campaign. The Boeing 777 was later sent for repainting at Shannon Airport (SNN) on May 4, 2026, where it received special “FIFA Official Airline of the Journey” colors in May 2026.

Notably, this is not A7-BEH’s first foray into World Cup livery territory. The airline previously used the same aircraft to promote the 2022 FIFA World Cup, when it carried tournament branding between late 2022 and early 2023. (Greek City Times) The selection of the same airframe for both campaigns underscores the continuity Qatar Airways seeks to project in its FIFA partnership.
The Boeing 777-300ER’s specifications make it a natural candidate for long-haul promotional duties. On the A7-BEH configuration, key cabin features include:

  • Business Class: 42 seats in a 2–2–2 layout, converting to a 78-inch fully flat bed, with a 12-inch HD touchscreen IFE and universal 110V AC power
  • Economy Class: 312 seats in a 3–4–3 layout with 32-inch pitch, 10.6-inch HD touchscreen IFE, and a 4-way adjustable headrest
  • Engines: Two General Electric GE90-115B turbofans

A Livery Designed to Embody Football’s Global Spirit

Qatar Airways developed the livery to reflect the spirit of the FIFA World Cup 2026, the largest edition of the tournament in history. Unlike a one-off static display or a small decal, this aircraft will continue to fly across the network and features a full-body livery that is noticeable and stands out at Doha and in markets globally.

The interior follows the same thematic logic. Beyond the exterior, the aircraft features bespoke cabin dressing themed around the FIFA World Cup 2026, with the custom interior styling designed exclusively for this aircraft to bring the tournament atmosphere into the inflight experience. Qatar Airways confirmed that both the exterior livery and the interior dressing will remain on the jet after the tournament concludes, serving as a long-term tribute to the event.

The Qatar–FIFA Partnership: A Relationship Extending To 2030

The unveiling of this livery is a visible manifestation of one of aviation’s most significant sports sponsorships. Qatar Airways, a top-tier FIFA partner since 2017, announced the renewal of its partnership as FIFA’s Global Airline Partner on the one-year anniversary of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, with Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer joining FIFA President Gianni Infantino for the signing ceremony at Hamad International Airport.

The extended partnership covers significant FIFA tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup 26™, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™, and the FIFA World Cup 2030™, as well as all youth men’s and women’s tournaments. Qatar Airways stands among the esteemed group of six global FIFA partners, sharing the spotlight with industry leaders such as Adidas, Coca-Cola, Hyundai, Wanda, and Visa.

On the occasion of the 2023 partnership renewal, Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer stated:

“We are excited to extend our partnership with FIFA as the Global Airline Partner. As an airline, we are committed to connecting the world, and this partnership allows us to reach millions of football fans. Football has the power to unite people across cultures and continents, and we are proud to continue to be part of this incredible journey.”

The FIFA World Cup 2026: Scale, Scope, And Significance

The tournament this livery herald is unprecedented in the history of the sport. The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11, 2026, and runs through July 19, 2026, featuring 48 teams, a record 104 matches, and 16 stadiums spread across three nations over 39 days. The opening match takes place at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, where Mexico will face South Africa — a venue that will become the first stadium to host games at three different men’s World Cups.

The USA hosts 78 of the 104 total matches, including all games from the quarterfinals onward, while Canada and Mexico each host 13 matches. (World Cup Wiki) The final takes place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19. (RG) For Qatar Airways, which operates a hub-and-spoke network connecting over 160 destinations through Doha, the geography of this tournament — spanning three continents of feeder markets — makes the sponsorship logistically as well as commercially compelling.

The travel packages Qatar Airways Holidays will offer include international flights, domestic flights, transfers to various cities, hotel accommodation in four and five-star hotels, airport and stadium transfers, and match tickets.

Qatar Airways’ History Of Special Liveries

The FIFA 2026 livery is the latest in a well-established tradition of special paint schemes that Qatar Airways deploys to amplify its major sponsorships. We documented in our review of Qatar Airways’ five most notable special liveries, the carrier has a track record of converting its Boeing 777 fleet into flying billboards for cultural and sporting events of global significance.

Most relevant is the precedent set by the 2022 FIFA World Cup livery. The aircraft that donned the colours during the 2022 event was a Boeing 777 registered A7-BEB. A year prior to the start of the World Cup, this same aircraft, bearing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ livery and carrying the Winner’s Trophy, flew over all eight stadiums that would later host matches. During the 2022 World Cup, Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club — the Official Frequent Flyer Programme of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ — gave members 3,650 bonus Avios for every booking made between 21 and 23 November 2021.

Most recently, in December 2025, Qatar Airways unveiled a Formula 1-themed livery on a different Boeing 777-300ER, registered A7-BEG. As reported by Avio Space, that aircraft’s livery was designed by Grammy-winning artist Swizz Beatz under Qatar Airways’ “Creative 100” cultural initiative, and its reveal at Lusail International Circuit during the Qatar Grand Prix weekend became the most tracked flight on Flightradar24 for an entire 24-hour cycle.

On that occasion, Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer remarked:

“This weekend, Qatar Airways brought together innovation and passion by engaging with leading forces in the fields of sport and arts to offer an unmatched community experience. The debut of our latest F1 livery drew a massive interest from sport enthusiasts, creatives, and aviation buffs — making our flypast the most tracked flight for an entire 24-hour cycle on Flightradar24.”

The comparison between the F1 livery and this new FIFA livery is instructive. While the F1 livery leaned on artistic collaboration and cultural programming, the FIFA 2026 livery draws its identity from the tournament branding itself — a distinction that reflects the differing nature of the two sponsorships. Both aircraft, however, share the Boeing 777-300ER platform and the policy of retaining the livery beyond the event itself.

A Record-Breaking Airline Behind A Record-Breaking Tournament

The unveiling of this livery arrives against the backdrop of Qatar Airways’ most decorated period in its institutional history. Qatar Airways has been named the ‘World’s Best Airline’ by Skytrax, retaining the top position for a record-breaking ninth time at the 2025 World Airline Awards. In addition to securing the airline industry’s highest accolade, Qatar Airways was also awarded World’s Best Business Class, Best Airline in the Middle East, and Best Business Class Airline Lounge for the Al Mourjan Lounge at Hamad International Airport.

Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted commented on the achievement:

“It is a fabulous achievement for Qatar Airways to win the World’s Best Airline title for 2025, the ninth time they have triumphed in the awards history. Qatar Airways achieved excellent results across many award categories.”

This deployment strategy aligns with the airline’s wider network, which connects more than 160 destinations through Doha this summer. The airline’s operational reach across the three tournament host regions — North America, Europe, and Asia — means the livery will be visible in virtually every major market from which football fans are expected to travel to the 2026 finals.

Qatar Airways and the World Cup

With the FIFA World Cup 2026 set to kick off on June 11 — a mere 16 days from the date of this announcement — the unveiling of the livery serves as a deliberate final countdown. Building on the legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, the new livery reflects the next chapter in Qatar Airways’ journey with FIFA as the Official Airline Partner of the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

Qatar Airways Holidays, as the authorised travel package provider of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, will launch travel packages in phases in the build-up to the tournament. These packages — covering flights, accommodation, and match tickets — represent the commercial counterpart to the brand visibility the livery generates.

After the last whistle blows at MetLife Stadium on July 19, the aircraft will continue flying with its World Cup identity intact.
