Bombardier’s flagship Global 8000 business jet has established a new speed record on the route between Los Angeles and Farnborough, completing the journey in just 8 hours and 46 minutes.
During the transatlantic flight, the aircraft achieved a maximum speed of Mach 0.93 despite encountering unfavorable tailwinds.
The record-setting mission brought the Global 8000 to the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow, where the aircraft is making its first-ever aerial demonstration.
The Global 8000 is currently the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde, offering a top speed of Mach 0.95, an 8,000-nautical-mile range, and the lowest cabin altitude in production business aviation at 2,691 feet.
Bombardier Global 8000 Sets Los Angeles–Farnborough Record
Bombardier confirmed that the Global 8000 established a new benchmark on the Los Angeles–Farnborough city pair.
The aircraft completed the route in 8 hours and 46 minutes while reaching Mach 0.93, overcoming unfavorable tailwinds during the crossing.
According to the manufacturer, the flight was 2.2% quicker than the previous record for the same route.
The achievement adds another speed record to the Global 8000 program while extending the record-setting legacy of its predecessor, the Global 7500, which entered service in 2018.
Designed to combine high speed with ultra-long-range capability, the Global 8000 has a maximum speed of Mach 0.95 and a range of 8,000 nautical miles, allowing nonstop flights between more city pairs than competing business jets. Power comes from two General Electric Passport engines.
Passenger comfort also remains a major focus. The aircraft features a four-zone cabin and the lowest cabin altitude in production business aviation at 2,691 feet, helping reduce fatigue on long-haul flights. Bombardier also highlights the jet’s smooth ride and premium cabin experience.
Greater Airport Access
In addition to its speed and range, Bombardier says the Global 8000 offers superior airport accessibility.
The company states that the aircraft can operate into up to 30% more airports than its closest competitor thanks to its short-field landing capability.
This enables passengers to arrive closer to their final destinations while giving operators greater flexibility when planning flights.
Bombardier says the combination of speed, range, and airport accessibility defines the Global 8000’s position in the business aviation market.

From Certification to Farnborough Debut
The Global 8000 officially entered service on December 8, 2025, during a delivery ceremony held near Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) in Mississauga.
Transport Canada certified the aircraft on November 5, 2025, followed by approval from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration on December 19, 2025. It became the fastest civil aircraft to enter commercial service since the Concorde retired in 2003.
The latest record is another milestone for the program following its entry into service and coincides with the aircraft’s European public debut.
Global 8000 at Farnborough 2026
Throughout the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow, the Global 8000 is participating in aerial demonstrations.
The display flights allow Bombardier to showcase the aircraft’s speed and handling characteristics to customers, industry representatives, and aviation enthusiasts. The company is also welcoming visitors at Chalet C603 during the event.
